March 15, 2008 Tumwater, WA

Rory Lee broke loose for three touchdown runs (50, 22, 1), while QB Jacob Hicks in his first start as a Shocker threw for 320 yards and a touchdown and rushed for another.

Seven new starters made their debut on the Shocker offense which had it's best season opener in the teams' four year history winning it's fourth straight opener. The Shockers led 17-0 early on TD runs by former UPS Logger Rory Lee and would go up 24-0 on a Hicks to Bryan Hooper TD pass Hooper caught 8 balls for 145 yards on the day. The Monarchs would score their first points in 6 quarters against the Shocker defense on a pass to the back of the endzone late in the 3rd period. The Monarchs would again find the endzone early in the fourth to make the score 24-12 before Lee and Hicks would extend the margin to the final 38-12.

Defensively, newcomer Michael Lopez intercepted a pass and knocked down another while assisting fellow linebackers Kelly Time and Nate Enciso (10 tackles) in stuffing the Monarchs rushing game. The defense sported 5 new starters including 3 of 4 on the defensive line.

Pat Hutnik chipped in a field goal and was perfect on 5-5 PAT's to score 8 points to open his 2008 campaign.

The Shockers take on the Tacoma Invaders of the Cascade Football League in their final non-conference matchup March 29 in Tacoma before opening EFL play on the road at Yakima.
