Shockers Back on
Winning Track with 28-3 Win
April 12, 2008 Lacey,
WA
The Shockers bounced
back from their first regular season loss in 3 years downing
the Okanogan Commandos 28-3 in Lacey. The Commandos
ironically, were the first team to hand the Shockers a
regular season loss back in 2005 halting South Sounds'
inaugural 3 game winning streak.
The Commandos
capitalized on Shocker miscues kicking an early field goal
and holding a 3-0 lead at halftime. South Sound came
out after the half with 100-yard rushing performance by Rory
Lee and TD before Jacob Hicks found his arm hitting Jameson
Gstohl and Avery Brown for 4th quarter scores. WR Ryan
Kimbrough broke an ankle on a first quarter punt return,
further depleting a receiving corps that was missing Bobby
Poeltl (ribs), Bryan Hooper (family matters) and Eugene
Mirador (military deployment). Gstohl, Reis and Minnis
stepped up to take over the receiving duties and give Hicks
reliable targets.
Defensively Ron Strozyk
and Nate Enciso continued to lead, while tackles Antonie
Reeves and David Alefosio continued to improve. Robb
Stanton recovered a fumble seeing increased action on the
defensive line.
