Shockers Upset #3
Tri City Knights
May 10, 2008 Shelton,
WA
Coming off a loss where
the Shockers blew a 17-point lead, South Sound looked to
rebound and place themselves back in as a major factor in
the EFL playoff race. In stunning fashion, the
Shockers dominated the heavily favored Tri City Knights
34-14 in a game the Shockers led 31-0 midway through the
third quarter.
The Knights entered the
game on a hot streak with QB Scott Biglin averaging over
400-yards per game through the air. A week ago Biglin
torched Bellingham for 7 TD's. These were the
same Bulldogs the 6th ranked Shockers struggled to defeat
12-6 behind the kicking of Pat Hutnik's 4 field goals.
However, this day the
South Sounders brought a defensive answer to the Knights 50
aerial attacks, picking off 3 passes and holding Tri City to
just over 200 yards through the air and 2 late touchdown
passes.
Rory Lee got back into
the rushing race with 109 yards and 2 TD's, while Bobby
Poeltl and Bryan Hooper were on the receiving ends of Jacob
Hicks passes. Hutnik continues to lead the EFL kickers
by putting 2 more field goals and 4 PAT's through the
uprights.
