After an award
winning career at Hamline University in St.
Paul, Minnesota, Gomez embarked on a career
as a United States Marine, leaving the Corps
as a Captain. While at Hamline, David
won the 1984 Jerry Smith Award and in 2004
was inducted into the Hamline University
Hall of Fame as part of the 1984 football
team. The proud father of two teenage
boys, Gomez has enjoyed lighting the
competitive fire once again as the second
oldest player on the team (Gregg Kinnunen is
the oldest at 45). Highly active in
the community, Gomez is a key player for the
Shockers with the ability to play center and
guard on a moments notice. Slowed by a
hairline break just below his knee in
2007, Gomez came on strong to end the
season spelling center Jonathan McNally and
backing up both guard positions.
