Shockers and PNFC merge with Evergreen Football League!

Steve Matychowiak - Head Coach (2009)

  • POSITION: Head Coach (2006-07, 09); Defensive Coordinator (2005)

  • ALMA MATER:  Capital HS/Olympic CC

 

Steve "Maty" Matychowiak returns to lead the Shockers after a year away from the team to handle family issues.  Maty brings a tireless work ethic to the team and strong belief in preparation and organization which is reflected in the play of his football teams.

Coaching highlights include:

 

  •  2007 MLFN Head Coach of the Year (14-1 PNFC Champions)

  •  2006 PNFC Coach of the Year (10-1 PNFC Runner Up)
  •  2006 First Head Coaching Victory against Umpqua Valley Knights on 3/18/06
  •  Undefeated 2006 & 2007 Regular Seasons, 2 South Division Titles
  •  2005 Defensive Coordinator of the South Sound Shockers
  •  2003 Defensive Coordinator for the Pierce County Bengals, allowing 10.7 points per game
  •  1999 Defensive Coordinator for the Pierce County Bengals, allowing 12.8 points per game
  •  Coached the 1999 NWFL Defensive MVP, Karl Wright Significant awards include:
  •  2005 Minor League Football Hall of Fame Inductee 

 

As a player, Steve was part of the Auburn Panthers historic 54-game winning streak and winner of an AMLFA National Championship in 1986.

 

Steve works as a Telecommunications Analyst for the Providence Health System. He is married to Rose and has two daughters, Hillary and Maddie
